Getting started
Sleepy Spell creates gentle, personalized bedtime stories where your child is the hero. You choose a world and a mood, and the app makes a short story just for them - with warm narration you can listen to together. It is designed specifically for the bedtime routine, not for all-day entertainment.
Sleepy Spell is designed for children ages 3 to 8. Stories are tailored to your child's age - simpler tales and vocabulary for younger children, richer narratives for older ones.
No. Sleepy Spell requires no account and no login. Download it and start creating stories right away. We built the app to be private by design.
Sleepy Spell is available on iPhone and iPad through the App Store, and on Android phones and tablets through Google Play.
How the stories work
You pick one of five worlds and a story tone. Sleepy Spell then creates a short story built around your choices and personalizes it with your child's name, right on your device. You can read it together or let the app narrate it aloud.

Four: Calming for winding down, Adventurous for a gentle journey with a happy ending, Funny for giggles, and Curious for wonder and discovery.
Stories are just a few minutes long - the right length for bedtime, so the story ends while your child is settling rather than dragging on.
Yes. Each story is newly created, so you are not re-reading the same handful of tales. Your child can revisit favorites from the library too.
The nightly story
Each evening, a fresh bedtime story unlocks in the app - free for everyone. It gives your child something new to look forward to at bedtime, every night.
Yes. The nightly story is free for all users, whether or not you have Premium.
Yes. The nightly story unlocks at a time you choose in Settings. The default is 8:00 PM, and you can change it to match your family's bedtime.
Only if you want one. You can turn on an optional gentle reminder that lets you know when the evening's story is ready. It is off unless you enable it, and you can turn it off anytime.
Listening and narration
Yes. Every story comes with warm, natural-sounding narration created on your device. Words highlight gently as they are read, so children can follow along.
Yes. You can choose from a wide range of voices - 6 premium voices (free in this version), 8 natural voices, and 100+ voices already built into your device.
Yes. You can set the reading pace to Slow, Normal, or Fast.
Offline use
Stories you have already created play fully offline - both the words and the narration. Creating a brand-new story needs an internet connection, because that is when the story is generated. Here is how stories are created privately.
Yes - create a few stories before you travel, and they will play anywhere with no connection needed.

Yes. A secure passcode protects your settings so children cannot change the app, and Exit Protection prevents accidental taps from interrupting a story mid-narration.
