Sleepy Spell is designed with children's privacy as the top priority. The Sleepy Spell app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data about your child. Your child's name and details stay on your device, and story content is generated on our secure servers from non-identifying inputs like theme and tone, with no child data sent. Separately, our website uses privacy-respecting analytics, and we send email only to parents who choose to subscribe. We never collect data about your child from the website, and we never sell anyone's data. This policy explains each of these in plain terms.

2. Information the App Doesn't Collect

The Sleepy Spell app does not collect:

  • Your child's name or personal information
  • Advertising identifiers or tracking data
  • Location data
  • Photos, contacts, or device data
  • Any data that could identify your child

3. How Stories Are Created

Your child's name and details stay on your device and are never transmitted. Generic story content is generated on our secure servers from non-identifying inputs like theme and tone, with no child data sent. Narration is produced on your device, and finished stories are stored locally in the app sandbox.

4. Children's Privacy

Sleepy Spell is built to protect children's privacy by default:

  • No accounts are required to use the app.
  • Your child's name is stored only on-device and never transmitted.
  • Age range is used only for anonymous, aggregated analytics (never linked to any identifier).
  • No personal data about your child is ever collected or shared.
  • Analytics are fully anonymous and cannot identify individual users.

5. Microphone Access

Microphone access is only used if you opt into the voice cloning feature. Audio recordings are processed and stored entirely on-device. They are never transmitted to any server.

6. Notifications

With your permission, Sleepy Spell can send gentle local reminders — for example, a nightly bedtime nudge. These notifications are generated on your device and do not collect or transmit any personal data. You can turn them off anytime in your device settings.

7. In-App Purchases

Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not process or store payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs transaction data.

8. Data Storage

All app data — including stories, preferences, and profiles — is stored in the app sandbox on your device. Deleting the app removes all data permanently.

9. Third-Party Services

Sleepy Spell uses the following privacy-respecting services:

Anonymous Analytics (TelemetryDeck)

We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-first analytics service, to understand how the app is used and improve the experience. TelemetryDeck:

  • Does not collect personal information or device identifiers
  • Does not track users across apps or websites
  • Is GDPR compliant

We collect anonymous, aggregated data about:

  • App usage patterns (e.g., which themes and tones are popular)
  • Feature usage (e.g., story generation, playback modes)
  • Age range preferences (never the child's name or personal details)
  • Subscription events

Crash Reporting (Firebase Crashlytics)

We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports when the app encounters errors. This helps us fix bugs and improve stability. Crash reports include:

  • Device type and operating system version
  • App version and crash stack traces
  • No personal information or story content

Other Network Calls

The app also makes network calls for:

  • Initial AI model download (one-time)
  • In-app purchase verification (handled by Apple)

10. Our Website (sleepyspell.app)

This section applies to our marketing website, not the app. To understand how the site is used and improve it, we use Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies and collects standard, aggregated web analytics such as pages visited, approximate (city-level) location, device and browser type, and referring links. To keep this as privacy-respecting as possible:

  • We have disabled Google Signals and advertising personalization, so the data is not used for ad targeting or cross-site advertising profiles.
  • We use website analytics for aggregate insight only — we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.
  • We never collect any information about your child through the website.
  • We do not sell website analytics data.

You can opt out of analytics cookies using your browser settings or the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

11. Email Communications

If you choose to share your email address with us — for example, to receive product updates or tips — we store it solely to send you those communications. We:

  • Only add a parent's email when it is voluntarily provided.
  • Use it to send updates, news, and occasional tips — never content about, or collected from, your child.
  • Include an unsubscribe link in every email, and honor opt-out requests promptly.
  • Never sell or rent your email address.
